Don't Be "That Guy": Essential Court Etiquette
Pickleball is famous for its friendly culture. However, there are unwritten rules that every player should know to keep the vibes positive and the games fair.
1. The Paddle Tap
At the end of every game, win or lose, players meet at the net to tap paddles. It’s the handshake of pickleball. Look your opponents in the eye and say "Good game." It’s a small gesture that defines the sport.
2. Line Calls: When in Doubt, Call it In
You are responsible for calling lines on your side of the court. The golden rule of sportsmanship is: If you didn't see it clearly out, it is IN. Never make a call based on a guess. Give the benefit of the doubt to your opponent.
3. Announce the Score Loudly
Before every serve, announce the score clearly (e.g., "4-3-1"). This prevents confusion and arguments later in the rally. If the receiver isn't ready, don't serve.
Respect the game, respect your opponents, and play with the spirit of a true Xephira athlete.
