No Partner? No Problem. 3 Wall Drills to Level Up Solo
Share
You don't need a foursome to improve your game. In fact, the fastest way to develop "soft hands" and lightning reflexes is often just you, a Xephira paddle, and a wall.
1. The Dink Consistency Drill
Stand 7 feet away from a wall (mark a line with tape). Hit soft shots that arc slightly and land near the wall's base.
Goal: Hit 50 forehand dinks and 50 backhand dinks in a row without moving your feet. This builds the muscle memory needed for those long kitchen rallies.
2. The Volley Reflex Drill
Move closer—about 4 feet from the wall. Hit the ball out of the air continuously. Start slow, then increase the pace.
Focus: Keep your paddle up and out in front. This simulates the fast hands battles you'll face at the net.
3. The "Two-Touch" Control
Hit a hard drive against the wall, then catch the rebound on your paddle face (without catching it with your hand), let it bounce on your paddle, and then hit it back to the wall.
Why: This teaches you to absorb pace and reset the ball, a critical skill for defending against "bangers."
